LARAMIE — Djibril Thiam scored 13 points and Wyoming pulled away from Air Force late to end an eight- game losing streak with a 58-49 victory Tuesday night.
Ryan Dermody and Desmar Jackson each had 12 points for the Cowboys (10-19, 3-12 Mountain West Conference).
“It was a much-needed win. It was a good win for us,” Wyoming coach Heath Schroyer said. “I felt our guys really showed a lot of growth tonight.”
Tom Fow scored 17 points and Grant Parker added 14 for the Falcons (9-19, 1-14), who are guaranteed a last-place finish in the conference. Air Force has lost eight straight and 14-of-15 games.
A 3-pointer by Dermody and two free throws by Daylen Harrison put the Cowboys up by six with 4:28 remaining.
The Falcons then scored five consecutive points before the Cowboys closed with a 10-2 run. Wyoming hit 8-of-10 foul shots during its run.
