The Denver Post has won national business-news awards for enterprise stories and projects.

The Society of American Business Editors and Writers announced Wednesday that Ann Schrader was judged a winner for best business enterprise story, and Miles Moffeit and Aldo Svaldi won for best business investigative project for large publications.

Schrader was honored for “Survivor’s Tale,” which took readers into the minds of Frontier Airlines chief executive Sean Menke and chief financial officer Ted Christie as they navigated the company through bankruptcy. The story was published in October.

The category’s two other winners were the Boston Globe and the Sacramento Bee.

Moffeit and Svaldi were recognized for their examination of how federal and state regulators failed to detect fraud that led to the failure of Greeley-based New Frontier Bank.

Librarian Barbara Hudson provided research assistance for the two-part series published in December. Other winners in that category were The Dallas Morning News and The Seattle Times.

The Denver Business Journal also won a SABEW award for breaking-news coverage for its print and online stories on the February 2009 closure of the Rocky Mountain News.
