DENVER—Joe Howe stopped 25 of 26 shots as Colorado College beat top-ranked Denver 2-1 in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game on Friday.

Howe had 10 saves in the third period in a showdown with Denver backstop Marc Cheverie. Colorado College put 35 shots on Cheverie, who stopped 33.

Nick Dineen and Bill Sweatt scored goals for the Tigers (18-14-3, 12-12-3 WCHA).

Dineen gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead at 8:22 of the first period.

Patrick Wiercioch answered early in the second period for regular-season WCHA champion Denver (24-7-4, 18-5-4). But Sweatt broke the tie at 16:03 of the second period.

The teams square off in the regular-season finale at Colorado College on Saturday.
