COLORADO NATIONAL MONUMENT, Colo.—More federal money is coming to Colorado National Monument for trail improvements in what park officials are calling the trails’ biggest facelift in decades.

Parks officials have announced an additional $27,000 in federal stimulus money, bring the monument’s take from the stimulus since last year to more than $250,000.

The latest award of money will be used to rehabilitate Monument Canyon Trail, the second-most popular in the park.

Superintendent Joan Anzelmo says the stimulus trail work is the biggest effort to restore trails in decades. All the work must be complete by Sept. 30.
