GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A popular camping and fishing destination west of Paradox will close this summer as it undergoes improvements.
A Manti-LaSal National Forest official says Buckeye Reservoir will be closed while crews reconstruct campsites, build a boat ramp, install new toilet facilities, improve roads and thin ponderosa pines to reduce the threat of wildfire.
Moab-Monticello Ranger District recreation manager Brian Murdock says that once work is completed around the reservoir, boat traffic will be limited to five-horsepower motors or less on the reservoir, which is shared by boats and swimmers.
