A fire in a garage apartment left two Denver residents in need of temporary shelter this morning.
Around 10:07 a.m., a small wood stove in a converted garage heated a nearby pipe, warming up an adjacent wood stud and causing smoke at a home near West 43rd Avenue and Zuni Street, according to Denver Fire Department spokesman Alex Paez.
Firefighters had to cut holes in the garage roof to make sure fire had not spread unseen and called the Red Cross to find shelter for the two displaced residents.
