Aurora police arrested at least a half dozen people involved in a drag race at an industrial park Sunday night.
About 30 cars were involved in the race near 33rd Avenue and Chambers Road at about 11:10 p.m., said Aurora police spokeswoman Shannon Lucy, who added, “This is a spot known for dragging.”
Police arrested at least six participants, some of whom fled from cars they abandoned after getting stuck on a railroad track that runs between buildings in the area. Lucy said police were still sorting through all the reports on the incidents, and the actual number of people arrested was unclear.
Police impounded six cars.
People involved ranged from juveniles to adults. Drag races are common in the area, Lucy said.
