Legacy vs. Monarch, 8:30 p.m.
Who: Legacy Lightning (25-1, 10-1 Front Range League) vs. Monarch Coyotes (22-4, 11-0 Front Range League).
Coaches: Jamie Carey, Legacy, second season; Gail Hook, Monarch, 12th season.
Key players: Legacy — Carli Moreland, Sr., 13.8 points; Quincey Noonan, Sr., 10.7 points; Kailey Edwards, So., 10.7 points. Monarch — Alexus Johnson, So., 13.6 points, 9.6 rebounds; Alex Evans, Sr., 11.7 points; Eliza Normen, Jr. 11.1 points.
Final four appearances: Legacy, second; Monarch, third.
Outlook: It couldn’t be more evenly matched when judged by the regular-season meetings. Legacy won the first game 58-56 and Monarch the second, the league game, 66-64. “It’s a tiebreaker, I guess you could say,” Evans said of tonight’s matchup. . . . Each team is vying for its second championship-game appearance and first title. . . . This one might come down to the individual battle in the post between Moreland and Johnson, who each had 18 points and double-digit rebounds in the quarterfinals.
East vs. Heritage, 7 p.m.
Who: East (21-5, 8-0 Denver Prep League) vs. Heritage (20-6, 8-3 Continental League).
Coaches: Dwight Berry, East, seventh season; Ron McClurg, Heritage, 13th season.
Key players: East — Shea Kelley, Sr., 11.3 points; Samantha Sanders, Sr., 9.6 points; Deidra Smith, Jr., 14.5 points. Heritage — Kim Lockridge, Sr., 15 points, 10.1 rebounds; Lauren Huggins, So., 52 3-pointers; Sullivan Ziegler, Sr., 4.6 assists.
Final four appearances: East, first; Heritage, third.
Outlook: While it isn’t necessarily shocking that Heritage made it, it does qualify as bizarre that the Eagles were considered the fifth-best team in the Continental League and are still alive, while Highlands Ranch, ThunderRidge, Regis Jesuit and Chaparral have been eliminated. . . . East is the first Denver Prep League team to advance to the final four since Montbello won it all in 1999. . . . The teams met at East in January, with the host Angels winning 67-63. However, Heritage was without Huggins, who had an ankle injury.
