The Mesa County coroner’s office today identified the 27-year-old man who was shot and killed Sunday night as he tried to intervene in a domestic dispute between neighbors in Grand Junction.
Andrew Todd Boxa died a short time later at St. Mary’s.
Robert McCleland, 31, is being held on first-degree murder charges on a $1 million bond.
McCleland and his wife were arguing Sunday night when Boxa, who lived across the street, came over, the Grand Junction Sentinel reported Monday.
McCleland reportedly told Boxa to leave. Boxa had retreated only a few steps when McCleland fired a warning shot. When Boxa still did not leave he was shot in the head, the paper reported from the arrest affidavit.
