The Rapids signed goalkeeper Ian Joyce on Tuesday, adding depth at the position less than three weeks before the start of the Major League Soccer season.
Joyce, 24, is a product of Seton Hall and played most recently with Southend United, where he made two appearances. He had a brief trial stint with the Rapids this preseason.
Also, the Rapids released forward Facundo Diz and didn’t offer a contract to defender Chad Borak, a third-round pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.

The University of Colorado women’s golf team shot a third-round 308 to finish with a 933 total, good for 11th place at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational in San Jose, Calif.
The Buffs finished 20 strokes ahead of Colorado State, which shot a three-round 953 total and finished 15th. California was the tournament champion.
Emily Talley was the top finisher for Colorado. The sophomore’s final-round, 1-under-par 71 moved her from 33rd place to 11th.
• The CU men’s golf team plummeted from seventh place to 13th after shooting a 309 in the final round at the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette, La.
LSU won the tournament.
