NEW YORK—Northern Colorado, George Mason and Harvard are among 16 teams in the College Insider.com tournament.
George Mason (17-14), which made a captivating run to the Final Four of the NCAA tournament in 2006 under coach Jim Larranaga, will host Fairfield (22-10) in the first round Tuesday.
Harvard (21-7), coached by Tommy Amaker, finished third in the Ivy League and will play at Appalachian State (22-12) on Wednesday.
The other first-round matchups are South Dakota at Creighton; Western Carolina at Marshall; Middle Tennessee State at Missouri State; Portland at Northern Colorado; Pacific at Loyola Marymount; and Southern Mississippi at Louisiana Tech.
The field is made up of schools that were left out of the NCAA tournament and the NIT. Old Dominion won the first CIT last year.
