The Colorado Supreme Court will not take up the case of a woman who has fought for years to have two men prosecuted for raping her.

Relying on an unusual Colorado law, a district court judge had ordered last May that a prosecutor be appointed to seek charges against the two men, one of whom was later implicated in a scandal at the University of Colorado. But the state appeals court overturned that ruling. On Monday, the Colorado Supreme Court announced it had declined to take up Julie Stene’s appeal.
