• Because of incorrect information provided by a source, a story and graphic on Page 5B on March 11 incorrectly conveyed that foreign-born Latinos in the United States outnumber U.S.-born Latinos. In fact, 2008 U.S. census data show that about 62 percent of Latinos in the U.S. were born in the U.S. and 38 percent are foreign-born.

• CLARIFICATION: A report in the Fort Collins Coloradoan prompted state Sen. Josh Penry, R-Grand Junction, to call for hearings looking into why the state Department of Health and Human Services did not complete 10 of 11 investigations of the deaths of children under the age of 4 while they were in the custody of county social services departments in 2008. A story on Page 4B on Friday did not explain the impetus for Penry’s action.
