CENTENNIAL, Colo.—A suburban Denver man who killed a Guatemalan immigrant six years ago has been convicted of murder.

Twenty-seven-year-old Tommy Lee Halfacre was on the run for four years after following the immigrant home and shooting him in a botched robbery. Authorities say Carlos Ortiz Orellana was killed at his Aurora apartment complex after telling Halfacre he had no money.

Halfacre fled police but was found in 2008 in Kansas City, Mo., after appearing on “America’s Most Wanted.”

On Friday, an Arapahoe County District Court jury convicted Halfacre of murder. Sentencing was set for June 4.
