A 22 year-old man has been hospitalized with serious injuries after losing control of his vehicle and colliding with two trees after running off a Pueblo street early today.
Christopher Mondragon was behind the wheel of a 2003 Chevrolet Impala when the car went off the road in the 3300 block of West Northern Avenue around 2 a.m.
The car ran onto a greenbelt area, sideswiped one tree and smashed head-on into another tree before coming to a stop. Bystanders pulled Mondragon from the vehicle as it began burning.
Neighbors attempted to put out the flames before the Pueblo Fire Department arrived.
Mondragon was taken to Parkview Hospital and then transported to Denver Health Medical Center in critical condition with internal and other serious injuries.
He wasn’t wearing a seat belt, and police are investigating whether he was intoxicated.
