BOULDER, Colo.—Boulder County commissioners say they’re concerned about plans by Denver Water to nearly triple the size of Gross Reservoir in southwest Boulder County.
Denver Water is seeking a permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to expand the reservoir to address growing demand for water. It would be filled by tributaries of the Colorado River in Grand County.
The public has been submitting comments on a draft environmental impact statement on the proposal.
County commissioners submitted a letter saying they’re concerned the draft EIS didn’t adequately address other projects seeking to divert water from the Colorado River watershed. They also are worried about potential flooding and impacts of construction trucks on county roads.
