A 6-year-old skateboarder was killed in a freak accident Sunday evening when he was hit by a vehicle that his father was driving.
The fatal accident happened around 6:30 p.m. on the 2700 block of West Hillside Avenue, said Sonny Jackson, a Denver Police Department spokesman.
Investigators were called to the scene and the boy was taken to Swedish Medical Center where he died of his injuries. The boy’s mother was also in the vehicle that hit the child.
The father didn’t see his son, who skateboarded into the path of the auto.
“It was just an unfortunate accident,” Jackson said.
