DENVER—The Denver Post reports that the city of Denver is paying $35,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by two women who were injured after their car collided with a police car.

The newspaper reports that a lawsuit says Diana Ramirez, also known as Diana Muniz, and her passenger Stephanie Lares were driving across an intersection on April 17, 2008, when officer Brian Urlik drove through a red light without his sirens or flashing lights on.

The cars collided.

The complaint says Urlik was not charged with careless driving. Police spokesman Sonny Jackson says Urlik is currently assigned to the department’s patrol division.
