Several local chefs and food folk were nominated as finalists for the 2010 James Beard Awards, to be handed out in early May in New York.
Ryan Hardy, the blisteringly talented chef at Montagna Restaurant at the Inn at Little Nell in Aspen, was nominated for best chef, Southwest region. Hardy has been nominated before; here’s hoping this year he brings home the hardware.
Frasca Food & Wine in Boulder was nominated for best wine service. Bobby Stuckey helms the excellent team, which includes sommeliers Matthew Mather and Benjamin Richardson, among others.
Westword writer Jared Jacob Mahang was nominated for best feature writing for his excellent February 2009 story on SAME cafe, and former Westword critic Jason Sheehan (who has since relocated to Seattle) was nominated for his collection of memorable restaurant reviews.
Busy Denver Post blogger Eugenia Bone was nominated for best single-subject cookbook for “Well-Preserved: Recipes and Techniques for Putting Up Small Batches of Seasonal Foods.” Find Eugenia’s blog at .
