A hearing on U.S. Sen. Mark Udall’s bill to protect communities from bark beetles was canceled Tuesday. Republicans angry over the passage of a health-insurance overhaul blocked the meeting with an obscure rule requiring unanimous consent to hold hearings scheduled after 2 p.m. One of the witnesses set to testify was Colorado state Sen. Dan Gibbs, D-Silverthorne. Udall hopes to get the hearing rescheduled this week.
