President Barack Obama said Tuesday that he intends to nominate a University of Colorado researcher as associate director for science in the Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Carl Wieman’s work to create a new form of matter was recognized with the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2001. Wieman now divides his time between the University of British Columbia and CU-Boulder. He serves each as the institution’s director of collaborative science education initiatives aimed at improving undergraduate science education and as a physics professor.
