Cloud Rock. pop-infused music is so light and fluffy that they fit this category perfectly. Well, that and the fact that in 2008 the New York indie rockers were dubbed the “whitest band” around by Christian Lander, creator of .

“Cloud rock” may be light, fluffy music that white people can dance to, but the band did not disappoint Friday night at the . As the snow fell outside, front man Ezra Koenig’s staccato guitar playing took fans far away from the cold and transported them to a time where dancing in unison with elbows out, fingers snapping and heals kicking was accepted.

Vampire Weekend’s music works because it isn’t anything new. It is a Frankenstein monster made up of bits of the Clash, the Smiths, Bowie and Paul Simon, all packaged in the style of African-influenced guitar-pop. Close your eyes and are at happy hour at Bahama Momma’s on a Thursday listening to song after song of top 40 hits re-worked with a steel drum and reggae beat (all the while played by a balding wannabe in a faded Hawaiian shirt).
