DENVER—Colorado Attorney General John Suthers says Colorado will receive $79,208 as part of a settlement with Alpharma Inc. over accusations of fraud.

Suthers made the announcement Thursday.

Last week, Alpharma announced a $42.5 million settlement with federal prosecutors of allegations that it paid health care providers to encourage them to promote or prescribe the painkiller Kadian and made misleading statements about its safety and efficacy. Alpharma also was accused of causing false or fraudulent claims for the drug to be submitted to Medicaid programs.

Alpharma hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing.
