Justin Speier, pitching in front of father Chris, a Reds coach, worked two scoreless innings, helping his bid for a roster spot.

Reds starter Aaron Harang was blistered for seven runs and admitted he didn’t have his good stuff. . . . Hawpe struck out looking in the first inning and expressed his disgust by dropping his helmet on home plate.
