Planting artful roots in Colorado
The nonprofit Colorado Garden Show, Inc. recently announced it will award $110,000 to the forthcoming Clyfford Still Museum, which is scheduled to open in 2011. The funds are for the development of a half-acre public space at the corner of West 13th Avenue and Bannock Street. Among the new museum’s outdoor design features: Approximately 60 trees that form groves for shade and sanctuary, pathways and benches that encourage visitors to linger, and a major sculpture (contributed by the Denver Art Museum) by noted artist Joel Shapiro. This grant will specifically go toward sod, irrigation and trees, and is one of the largest ever awarded by Colorado Garden Show, Inc.
