Funeral services for former Mesa State College football and baseball coach Walter F. “Bus” Bergman will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Grand Junction college’s William S. Robinson Theater, his family said today.
Bergman, 89, died Sunday. He is the father of former lieutenant governor Jane Norton of Denver, Judy Black of Alexandria, Va. and Walter Bergman Jr. of Grand Junction. He also is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elinor Pitman Bergman.
A viewing will be at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. He will be buried in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction at 1 Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked for contributions to either First Baptist Church of Grand Junction, Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado or the Bus Bergman Baseball Endowment Fund at Mesa State.
