A man suspected of stealing from firefighters across the Front Range has been arrested by Westminster police.

Robert John Burns Jr., 48, is suspected of burglarizing multiple fire stations between October 2009 and February 2010, Westminster police said in a media release.

Burns is a mechanic for a private company that services fire engines, police said. At least ten different fire departments are victims in the case.

Narcotics and various firefighting gear was stolen in the burglaries, police said.

On Jan. 26, and Feb. 23, 2010, two Westminster fire stations were hit. Westminster police received several anonymous tips which lead investigators to Burns.

Burns was arrested on suspicion of burglary for controlled substances, criminal trespass, and theft between $500 to $1,000.
