A young girl was killed today when the mini van she was sitting in on the shoulder of Interstate 76 near E-470 was hit from behind by a rental truck.
Another child and the driver of the rental truck were injured and rushed to local hospitals. The girl who was killed was in a child-safety seat, Brighton police said in a statement.
The names and ages of the children and the truck driver have not been released.
The crash happened at about 1:30 p.m., Brighton police said.
The crash is under investigation, but there is no indications alcohol or drugs were a factor, police said.
