An early morning rollover accident near Fort Lupton left one person with serious injuries and six others with moderate injuries.

State Patrol spokesman Sgt. John Hahn said the accident occurred about 4:45 a.m. today when an Acura SUV heading northbound on U.S. 85 lost control, went off the left side of the road, over-corrected and then rolled two times.

Hahn said one person, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and seriously injured.

He said the six other occupants in the vehicle sustained moderate injuries.

He said six of the injured were taken to Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. The seventh person was taken to the Medical Center of the Rockies in Longmont.

Hahn said the accident is still under investigation and the cause has yet to be determined.

Hahn said alcohol is not believed to be a factor.Howard Pankratz: 303-954-1939 or hpankratz@denverpost.com
