Erik Weihenmayer never has been one to shy away from a challenge. Since becoming the only blind person to climb the Seven Summits, the Coloradan has continued his pursuit of extraordinary expeditions. His most recent project was a rock climb of the Naked Edge, a highly technical classic in Eldorado Canyon State Park. Climbing with Access Fund executive director Brady Robinson and longtime climbing partner Charley Mace, Weihenmayer attempted the multipitch route in an effort to raise awareness for the Access Fund, a nonprofit advocacy organization that keeps climbing areas open and conserves the climbing environment. The resulting video, “Blind and Naked,” captures the adventure.
Weihenmayer, Robinson, Mace and videographer Cedar Wright will be at a fundraiser Thursday in Boulder for a screening of the video. They will give firsthand accounts of the climb at the event, which is at Neptune Mountaineering (633 S. Broadway) at 8 p.m. Tickets are $7.
More info: to purchase tickets, which are also available the night of the show in Boulder.
