Passenger traffic at Denver International Airport rose 5.1 percent in February compared with February 2009. The increase to 3,700,975 passengers follows on the heels of a year-over-year increase of 2.9 percent in January.

DIA said 7,477,378 passengers passed through in January and February, up 4 percent over the first two months of 2009.

Aviation manager Kim Day said this year is shaping up better than 2009 “as we see more confidence in both the business and leisure travel sectors.”

Flight operations were up 1.5 percent, and the amount of cargo handled jumped 13.7 percent in February over 2009. Ann Schrader, The Denver Post
