Metro Denver’s unemployment rate held steady at 8.4 percent in February, unchanged from January’s seasonally unadjusted rate, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday.

Total nonfarm employment stood at 1,156,900, down 41,400 over the past year. The 3.5 percent decline is larger than the 2.5 percent measured nationally.

Seven of 10 supersectors in the Denver-Aurora-Broomfield area lost jobs over the past year, led by mining and construction, professional and businesses, and trade, transportation and utilities, the BLS said.
