The Colorado Strongman Association presented “Unleash Your Strength” on April 10 at Red and Jerry’s in Sheridan. There were six divisions, including teen, women, novice lightweight and novice heavyweight and open lightweight and open heavyweight. Men’s lightweight is 231.4 pounds and under; heavyweight is 231.5 and over. Contestants participated in five different events:
Crucifix hold: Competitors hold sledgehammers extended out at their sides for as long as possible.
Axle deadlift: Competitors lift a 2-inch axle with tires and weights off the ground in a deadlift style as many times as they can in one minute.
Log overhead press: Competitors lift a log, with weights attached on the ends, over head as many times as they can in one minute.
Farmers hold: Competitors hold Farmers Walk Handles in each hand as long as possible.
Atlas stones: Competitors load five Atlas stones, increasing in weight onto a 48-inch platform. The person who loads the most the fastest wins.
