LAFAYETTE, Colo.—Lafayette police say an RTD bus driver involved in a collision that killed a cyclist faces a misdemeanor charge of careless driving resulting in death.
Police say 67-year-old Paul John Johnson of Westminster was booked Tuesday and was released on a summons.
Johnson is on paid investigative leave following the collision April 6. Police say Johnson was pulling onto a road when the bus struck 42-year-old Marvin “Chip” Webb, who died at a hospital.
It was the fourth fatality in five days in crashes involving Regional Transportation District buses.
RTD spokesman Scott Reed says agency officials will talk with police before making any decision on Johnson’s future with RTD.
A phone number for Johnson rang unanswered Wednesday.
