A man was thrown from his pickup truck and then struck by another vehicle on Interstate 25 about four miles north of Fort Collins this afternoon, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The man has not been identified and the circumstances of the 2:38 p.m. incident are still under investigation. The man was pulling a U-Haul trailer when he ran into the interstate median, according to troopers.
After he was thrown, he was run over by a sedan in the southbound lane and died at the scene.
The accident closed the southbound interstate. A detour is available on the interstate frontage road, but traffic will be slow in the area into the evening, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
