Denver police are seeking a man who they say was trying to lure children into his vehicle about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday near East Colfax Avenue and Marion Street.
The man was seen about 90 minutes later in the Congress Park neighborhood at East Ninth Avenue and Josephine Street.
At the first location, the man was seen talking to a young boy, about 13, who had red hair, freckles and was carrying a backpack, according to Denver police. Officers are trying to locate the teenager. They believe he may have important information about what the suspect said and did.
Sonny Jackson, spokesman for the Denver Police Department, said investigators also are trying to find any other children who may have been contacted by the man.
The suspect was driving a 2010 black Lexus SUV with tinted windows and a temporary license plate. He is described as a white male, 6-foot-4 and about 290 pounds. He has graying hair, brown eyes and was wearing a dark polo shirt and tan pants.
Jackson said nobody has been arrested in connection with the alleged child enticement.
Police are asking anyone who might know the suspect or the identity of the red-haired boy to contact Denver police at 720-913-2000. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at or call the tip line at 720-913-7867.
