SALT LAKE CITY — With the NBA stretching its first- round playoff schedule over three weekends, the Jazz is able to gain extra recovery time before Friday’s Game 3 at EnergySolutions Arena.
“I like it because we can get healthy,” said Carlos Boozer, who is battling a strained right oblique. “I’m banged up pretty nice, D-Will’s (Deron Williams) banged up pretty nice. I’m sure there’s three or four other guys on the team that’s banged up pretty nice.”
The Jazz took Tuesday off and will practice today and Thursday. Williams briefly left Monday night’s game in the first quarter with knee issues after being hauled down by a Carmelo Anthony flagrant foul.
“Just a hard foul, a playoff foul,” Williams said.
Fes up.
Jazz coach Jerry Sloan thought Kyrylo Fesenko was serviceable in Game 2. Fesenko had four points and two rebounds in 20 minutes, making his first start in place of Mehmet Okur, who suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in Game 1.
“He bought us some minutes that were worthwhile for us,” Sloan said, adding, “He helped us clog up the middle some — he’s big and long — and helped us in that area, try to hold position inside.” Ross Siler, The Salt Lake Tribune
