Evergreen baseball saluted former Cougar Kevin Kouzmanoff at its Saturday home game, but, not surprisingly, spring’s nasty weather asserted its presence.

“It wasn’t well-attended because the weather was so bad,” Evergreen coach Terry Hensley said. Still, the Cougars raised a banner at the top of their backstop in honor of Kouzmanoff, now the starting third baseman for the Oakland Athletics who played at Evergreen from 1996-99.

Trouble was, winds that seemed like 45 mph, Hensley said, ripped one of the banner’s corners, so it will be repaired and rehung as a welcome to Cougar Field.
