The University of Denver ski team claimed three of four skier of the year awards, Ski Racing magazine announced Thursday.
Senior Antje Maempel was named the women’s nordic skier of the year after winning both the classical and freestyle disciplines at the NCAA championships for the second straight year.
Sophomores Leif Kristian Haugen and Lindsay Cone received the men’s and women’s alpine awards. Haugen won three races and finished second in two others in a season truncated by his appearance for Norway in the Vancouver Olympics. He finished 28th in the giant slalom there. Cone was runner-up in both the slalom and GS at the NCAAs and was on the podium in seven of 10 races.
