CASPER, Wyo.—A glitch at a wireless switching center in Colorado affected cell phone service along a several hundred miles stretch on the eastern side of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and Wyoming.

Verizon Wireless spokesman Bob Kelley told the Casper Star-Tribune that the problem began at about 2 a.m. Thursday, with crews hoping to have the problem fixed by noon. Cell phone interruption has been reported as far south as the Colorado Springs area about 80 miles south of Denver, north to Casper.

The major cities along Colorado’s Front Range, Colorado Springs, Denver and Fort Collins did not appear to be affected.

The Colorado-based Kelley did not immediately return a message left by The Associated Press.
