Getting your player ready...
Jay Lukes has taken over Littleton High football.
The 38-year-old, a former assistant at Arapahoe, replaces Chad Koepke, who resigned after eight seasons. Lukes graduated from Arapahoe in 1990, and he won’t have far to travel.
“I actually live right down the street,” Lukes said.
With a resume that includes stints at Adams State and Utah State, Lukes, who is teaching at Arapahoe, will lead the Class 4A Lions into the new South Metro League, which includes Castle View, Legend, Ponderosa, Rock Canyon and Valor Christian.
Also, Fossil Ridge in Fort Collins has promoted Steve Vecchio to head coach to replace the departed Clint Fick. Vecchio, who was the offensive coordinator, has been with the program since the school opened in 2004.
