LITTLETON, Colo.—The death of a Dakota Ridge High School student has county officials looking into bacterial meningitis as a possible cause.
Jefferson County School District officials sent a letter to parents with information on meningitis following Thursday’s death. The county coroner’s office says the cause of death hasn’t been determined yet.
The family of the student, 17-year-old Jasmine Montoya, released a statement Friday saying she was set to graduate in May and planned to go to college. They say she was diagnosed with lupus six years ago, but was active in school, played piano, tennis and soccer and also had a job.
