TAIPEI, Taiwan — The U.S. Geological Survey said a 6.9- magnitude earthquake struck nearly 200 miles southeast of Taiwan at 10:59 a.m. today local time.

Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau said no tsunami warning was issued. Buildings swayed in Taipei, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
