NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Jonathan Toews scored a power-play goal to cap a wild first period, and the Blackhawks held on for a 5-3 victory over the Predators on Monday night and advanced to the Western Conference semifinals for the second straight year.
Chicago, which won the series 4-2 and will face the Canucks next, led 4-3 going into the third, when Nashville outshot the Blackhawks 15-3. Nashville pulled goalie Pekka Rinne with 1:15 left, but John Madden scored an empty-netter with 7.8 seconds remaining.
Bruins 4, Sabres 3
BOSTON — David Krejci had two goals and one assist, and Miroslav Satan scored the winner 14:49 into the third period by tucking the puck around Ryan Miller as Boston ousted Buffalo.
Thomas Vanek pulled Buffalo within a goal with 1:13 left after goalie Miller was pulled for an extra skater, but the Sabres couldn’t tie it in the closing minute.
Canadiens 4, Capitals 1
MONTREAL — Jaroslav Halak made 53 saves, and Michael Cammalleri scored twice in the first as Montreal forced a Game 7.
“It’ll be on ESPN Classic tomorrow as one of the greatest goalie performances,” Cammalleri said of Halak, whose shutout bid was spoiled by Eric Fehr at 15:10 of the third on Washington’s 52nd shot.
