SEASIDE, Calif. — Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin stands good odds of being the Republican nominee for president in 2012, according to two top political strategists.

“I think she loves it,” said television commentator James Carville, noting that he is willing to bet that Palin’s enthusiasm for the spotlight carries her to the GOP presidential ticket.

Carville, a Democrat, was joined by former Republican Florida Gov. Jeb Bush before Monday’s Panetta Institute lecture. Bush was less certain that Palin had the nomination locked up.

“You need to go seek knowledge.,” he said. “If (Palin) does that, . . . she’ll be a formidable candidate.”
