Quarterback Jon Eastman plans to transfer from Colorado State University and will play his senior season at the University of Sioux Falls (S.D.), according to reports from the Rocky Mountain Collegian.
CSU athletic spokesman Zak Gilbert said he was unable to confirm the report Wednesday night.
Eastman transferred from Snow (Utah) College a year ago to compete for the starting job. He threw for 494 yards in a backup role, with one start in the season finale. Most of the Rams’ work in spring practice was readying freshmen Pete Thomas and Nico Ranieri to compete for the job in the fall.

Spring has sprung, Spinney to open.
The much-anticipated season opening of Spinney Mountain Reservoir will be Saturday, the Elevenmile/Spinney Mountain State Park office announced. The gates will be unlocked 30 minutes before sunrise at 5:32 a.m.
“The surface went from 60 percent frozen to 20 percent frozen today,” park manager Kevin Tobey said. “The ice was grinding and going fast, so we decided to go ahead with the opening.”
The water level is 4.6 vertical feet below capacity, and both boat ramps will be operative, Tobey said. All trailered boats must be inspected for aquatic nuisance species before they can be launched. The parks office plans to begin inspecting boats that are waiting in line at 4 a.m.
Inspections are not required for float tubes, pontoon boats and other craft that can be launched by hand.
The popular South Park reservoir is a designated Gold Medal water and offers exceptionally good fishing for larger-than-average trout. The early part of the season is considered one of the most productive times for fishing.
