Vice President Joe Biden will be in Colorado today to promote the stimulus program and raise money for U.S. Rep. Betsy Markey.
Biden is scheduled to deliver a speech at noon at UQM Technologies, a Longmont company considered a leading developer and manufacturer of high-performance, energy-efficient electric drive systems.
The firm received $45 million in stimulus funds to build a new manufacturing facility to expand operations.
Biden will then head to Denver for a private fundraiser for Markey, a Fort Collins Democrat seeking a second term. The cost is $150 to attend the reception, although donors have been reminded they can donate up to $4,800 to Markey.
Biden’s wife, Jill, also will be visiting Colorado. An educator for nearly 30 years, she will tour programs at two community colleges, Red Rocks and Arapahoe.
