Numerous accidents and severe weather conditions shut down Interstate 70 near Vail Pass for more than an hour, but it has been reopened in both directions.

The closure affected I-70 from mile marker 180 to 195.

Colorado State Patrol spokeswoman Heather Cobler said the various accidents did not cause any injuries.

The National Weather Service reports continuous periods of snow showers in the area, and expects another 2 to 4 inches in the next 24 hours.
