Douglas County sheriff’s deputies are still searching tonight for a suspected carjacker driving a 2001 red Ford Escape.
The suspect is described as a white man with brown hair and goatee. He was wearing blue pants and a black shirt.
The stolen car has Colorado license plate 356 UCX.
Anyone seeing the car should call 911 to report it, but do not approach the vehicle, said Douglas County public information officer Ron Hanavan.
The Escape’s driver, after being thrown from her car, was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The incident began with deputies’ pursuit of a stolen car spotted along Castle Pines Parkway and Interstate 25.
The male suspect sped off, losing control and driving into a ditch at I-25 and Lincoln Avenue. The suspect ran away and then carjacked the Escape.
Two deputies went to the hospital for minor injuries sustained in a brief foot chase across a field.
Hanavan said he had not heard of a weapon being used in the crime. He said he did not know the nature of the injuries and which hospitals were used.
