Douglas County sheriff’s deputies were still searching Saturday night for a carjacking suspect driving a 2001 red Ford Escape.
The suspect is described as a white man with brown hair and goatee.
He was wearing blue pants and a black shirt.
The stolen Escape has Colorado license plate 356 UCX.
Anyone who sees the vehicle should call 911 to report it but should not approach the vehicle, said Douglas County public information officer Ron Han avan.
The Escape’s female driver, after the carjacker threw her from her car, was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The incident began when deputies spotted a stolen car along Castle Pines Parkway and Interstate 25.
The deputies gave pursuit.
As the male suspect sped off, he lost control of his vehicle and drove into a ditch at I-25 and Lincoln Avenue.
The suspect ran away and then carjacked the Escape.
Two deputies went to the hospital for minor injuries suffered during a brief foot chase across a field.
Hanavan said he had not heard of any weapon being used in the crime.
He said he did not know the nature of the injuries or which hospitals treated the woman and the deputies.
